Just to keep everyone up to date with everything that's planned at BIO 2010 this year.
Scottish Stand
Scotland will have its own stand at BIO 2010 operated by Scottish Development International (SDI) with plenty of information about everything happening in Scotland. Everyone is welcome to come along and speak to one of the SDI representative or another Scottish company at the stand. There is also a casual seating area for quick one to one chats with your chosen contacts.
Come visit us at Pavilion Number 4512, we're next to Germany and France on a main aisle.
Synthetic Biology Session at BIO 2010
Scottish Enterprise and our Genome Segment Assembly programme will be hosting a session at BIO 2010, as part of the exciting science track, on the up and coming area of Synthetic Biology.
Our session is titled 'From Oligos to Genes to Pathways to Genomes - DNA construction for Synthetic Biology'
Speakers include Dr Jason Kelly from Ginkgo Bioworks and GSA programme researcher, Dr Chris French from the University of Edinburgh and Dr Daniel Gibson from the Synthetic Biology and Bioenergy at the J.Craig Ventur Institute.
Date - Monday, 3rd May from 2.00PM to 3.30PM
Location: N405B, McCormick Place Convention Center, 2301 S Lake Shore Drive, Chicago
Global Scots
There will be a number of Global Scots at BIO, try using the Global Scot website to search for one and arrange a meeting. Last year Scottish Enterprise & SDI helped set up a number of meetings between Scottish companies and the Global Scot networks.
There are 60 Global Scots who work at a high level in the Life Sciences industry in the US alone (including at some of the largest Pharma companies.) For assistance setting up meetings please contact Raymond McGovern at the Global Scots team for more information
