The nominations committee of the Scottish Life Sciences Advisory Board (LiSAB) are seeking expressions of interest for up to 4 new members of the Board. With LiSAB membership rotating, membership will be for up to 3 years with a commitment of 4 meetings each year.
LiSAB was established in February 2009 and is jointly chaired by Nicola Sturgeon (Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing and Deputy First Minister) and
Dr John Brown representing industry. The Board is responsible for contributing to the overall strategy for the growth of the life sciences sector, advising the Scottish Governmnet and the wider public sector on the key issues facing the industry both domestically and internationally and what needs to be delivered to help the industry fulfil its growth potential. LiSAB has seen a number of successes over the past year and is looking to build further on the momentum that has been created.
Membership of LiSAB is structured to represent the breadth of the Life Sciences sector in Scotland with representatives from Pharmaceutical companies, Biotechnology companies, Contract Research Organisations, Medical Devices and Diagnostics companies and Scottish Government as well as other Public Sector organisations. All sizes of companies are represented as are inward investors. Members are on the Board to represent their subsector in Scotland and not their company at an individual level. Representatives from the University sector and NHS Scotland are also on the Board. Industry Associations attend LiSAB meetings on an observational basis.
All expressions of interest will be considered, however, Board members must be at a senior level within the Scottish organisation (e.g. CEO, CSO). The committee will be looking to maintain a balanced, representative membership on the Board. Expressions of interest should be sent in the form of a covering email and CV and submitted to Sharon McKendry at
sharon.mckendry@scotent.co.uk or by post to Atrium Court, 50 Waterloo Street, Glasgow G2 6HQ. The closing date for submissions is Friday 16th July 2010.
