Life Sciences awards recognise Scotland's best

Scotland's leading life sciences companies, innovators and academics were recognised last night, Thursday 4 February, at the Scottish Enterprise Life Sciences Annual Dinner 2010.

Five awards were made to the most outstanding medical and pharmaceutical companies and individuals in Scotland during 2009.

The winners of the 2010 Scottish Life Sciences Awards

The event took place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre and featured a keynote address by Dr Rod MacKenzie, senior vice president and head of worldwide research for Pfizer Inc.

Over 750 representatives from the life sciences community in Scotland and worldwide attended to congratulate BigDNA, Jim Reid, Vascutek, Axis-Shield, Keith Colver and David Fitzpatrick for their contribution to the industry.

Rhona Allison, director of Life Sciences at Scottish Enterprise, said:

"Congratulations to the winners and all of the companies who made it onto the shortlist. We always expect a high standard of entries for the Life Sciences Awards and this year was no different.

"The sector is trailblazing Scotland's economic future with some of the most ambitious and exciting projects in the country. At Scottish Enterprise, along with all those involved, we will continue to work hard to support a globally orientated, sustainable and fully connected life sciences industry."
