Innovative Approaches to Detection of Biological Agents - New SBRI Competition

Industry and academia are asked for ideas which will provide innovative approaches to Detection of Biological Agents.

The detection of biological agents (viruses, bacteria and toxins) is a priority area for UK defence and security. Proposals are sought which address one or more of the following areas:

• speed of collection and processing of potential agents (within a few hours);
• reduce the logistic burden - specifically size, weight, ease of use;
• cost (purchase, maintenance and consumables);
• simultaneous detection across a range of potential targets;
• compatibility with multiple target strains; and,
• integration of component parts into a complete system

This competition will fund Proof of Principle studies to investigate innovative approaches to address this challenge. Applications are to be made through the Ministry of Defence’s Centre for Defence Enterprise.
