An entrepreneurial opportunity exists for an individual to exploit technology in synthetic biology - a global growth market predicted to be worth $4.5 billion by 2015. 

 

Synthetic biology is a fast growing area of research bringing together the disciplines of engineering and biology to design and construct new functions and systems not found in nature.

 

Using your experience, you will be expected to launch a Scottish-based synthetic biology company in early 2012 by:

  • Finalising the business plan
  • Being a co-founder of the start-up
  • Engaging in finalising the raising of finance
  • Building a credible management team

 

The company should be able to achieve rapid growth and scale consistent with Scotland’s economic development objectives.
