1. Innovation in healthcare: This includes a number of facets – new drugs and how SMC may work more effectively; pathways to get devices/ diagnostics into use in the NHS in Scotland in a more productive manner that helps local industry; and how to compose compelling healthcare and health economic cases for the adoption of innovative health interventions. Can we define a solution to optimise the process?

2. Collaboration: Understand how we can better communicate and collaborate: ask views on communications strategy – where are the gaps; what are the hurdles to collaboration.

3. What about licencing IP: experiences, what were the issues; realistic financial evaluation of IP; risk sharing of IP?

4. Networks: SFC, SULSA, SINAPSE, SAHSCS, SUPA: can interaction be more effective? Eg could we roll out joint PhDs between SULSA and SAHSC? So students get academic and clinical knowledge

5. Enterprise Europe Scotland are running a LS partnering event in collaboration with BIA Scotland and SE Industry team on Friday Feb 5th. We would appreciate any marketing support the networking groups can offer and marketing/further info on the event will be available soon. Please contact Claire Melville

Themes linked to discussions at LSS/BIA and GlobalScot events:

(1) collaboration to support the funding of growth companies. This was highlighted at the GS event when the idea of a Scottish life sciences VC fund was suggested (again I believe?). It was also the subject of Scott Johnstone's article in the Scotsman.

(2) collboration to support the development of the people workstream. What can be done to develop the business development skills that will help companies go beyond start up to mid-cap and beyond.

How to avoid duplication and overlap in events e.g. 26 November!!
