A conference for industry professionals involved in the development, deployment and use of sensors organised by Heriot-Watt University.
This all-day event will look at the future of sensing technology, with speakers from a range of prominent industrial and governmental authorities, and is relevant to those working in:
The day will contain four parallel sessions, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. Delegates will be asked to pick which two they would like to attend.
Morning:
Sensing for Security – Using the latest technology to enhance the security of systems, people and places to match the threats prevalent in the world today.
Sensitive Measurements in Extreme Environments – Sensing technology must be reliable, from the harshest heat to extreme cold. We examine the need for such technology in helping create accurate scientific research in a range of fields including Geology, Physics and Chemistry.
Afternoon:
From Data to Information – A collection of unrelated, unorganised readings and results is of no use. This session will examine the way in which this confused data can become valuable information.
Biomedical Sensing – Technological advances have meant that sensors can be used to detect medical problems without the need for exploratory surgery, and to help reduce the risk of miscarriage for pregnant women. Advances in this sector stand to save millions of lives.
