Welcome to the first SynBio Student Symposium, to be held on the 4th April 2011 at the University of Glasgow. The symposium is aimed at students from a wide array of disciplines all sharing an interest in the new and exciting field of synthetic biology. The event has attracted speakers from a cross section of disciplines within synthetic biology including chemistry, engineering, plant science, molecular, cell and systems biology and social science. These experts are not only leaders in their respective fields, but are able to enthuse their audience. The event includes an early evening workshop about public perceptions surrounding synthetic biology and a lunchtime poster session at which selected students and early career researchers will present their work.
The symposium intends to give an overview of various aspects of synthetic biology and will provide a unique opportunity to become exposed to this field. The symposium will bring together academics from all over scotland and some of the leading synthetic biology researchers in the UK. Several companies will be presenting posters.
