Event Description

We are proud to announce the 1st College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences (MVLS) Industry Day at the University of Glasgow on 28th March 2012.  The event offers the opportunity to explore areas of research, from each of the College’s Research Institutes, which have the potential to meet the biomedical, veterinary, and life science challenges facing industry.

Dr Patrick Vallance, Senior Vice President, Medicines Discovery and Development, GlaxoSmithKline will present the keynote address ‘Making Medicines’ and highlight the benefits and importance of academic-industrial collaborations to advance science. Registrants will also have the opportunity, through one-to-one interactive round-table discussions, to explore key research topics with the potential to benefit industry development.

University of Glasgow also offers a wide range of opportunities to promote interactions at the academic-industrial interface. These include:

• Industrial Partnership Ph.D. Scheme designed to encourage innovative collaborations, solutions and competitiveness  with companies of all sizes based in the UK or overseas.

• Small grant scheme of up to £5,000 to fostering academic engagement and collaboration with Scottish SME’s.

• Easy Access IP portfolio which accelerates increased academic engagement with industry.

We look forward to welcoming you and your colleagues to our Industry Day on 28th March 2012. Further information on the programme and registration will be available on our Industry Day web-link (www.gla.ac.uk/colleges/mvls/industryday); please also take the opportunity to let us know of any specific topics or areas of interest you would like to hear about or discuss with us at the event.
