DESCRIPTION:Horizons in Hospital-Acquired Infections\n\n\n\n\nNexxus a
 nd the UK Sensors and Instrumentation Knowledge Transfer Network (SIKT
 N) have organised an event to examine opportunities arising from the h
 ospital-acquired infections challenge.\n\nThe legacy of previous infec
 tion-control practice and inappropriate antibiotic use has led to the 
 demand to control hospital-acquired infections. Although improving, th
 e situation still presents a pressing need for even better solutions i
 n the clinic. This demand creates opportunities to innovate new soluti
 ons. Growth in international commitment will identify and develop new 
 anti-infective medicines in coming years, but we must also meet the im
 mediate need for effective diagnostics and infection control.\n\nThis 
 joint meeting explores opportunities arising from hospital-acquired in
 fections, especially for diagnostics and infection control as ways to 
 manage infection risk. Attendees will hear from the clinical front-lin
 e, and from researchers and businesses developing new technologies to 
 help. As with all Nexxus events, you will have ample opportunity to ne
 twork and find ways to apply your knowledge to address the challenge.\
