Event Description

The Technology Strategy Board’s Innovation Platform on the Detection and Identification of Infectious Agents (DIIA) aims to reduce the morbidity, mortality and economic burden of infectious diseases in humans and animals. The programme will see investment of up to £55 million over 5 years - up to £50 million from the Technology Strategy Board and up to £5 million from the Department of Health (DH).

The DIIA Innovation Platform’s Second Series of Competitions will focus on Sepsis. These competitions, which are due to open in September/October 2011, will focus on developing tools and capabilities to improve the outcome of sepsis – a condition that costs the NHS ~ £1.5 billion per year.

A meeting has been organised for July 5th at the Waldorf Hilton, London to enable delegates to learn more about the specific requirements defined within the call and provide a forum for potential consortia to meet to discuss early collaborative partnering opportunities

Delegates can also take advantage of structured 1:1 ‘networking’ meetings that are being provided to encourage and facilitate greater collaboration between the people and organisations involved in this important area of healthcare, and to encourage the formation of new project consortia.

The meeting will be of interest to the diagnostics industry and related sensor developers, clinicians involved in the management of sepsis, GPs, microbiologists and academics wanting to work with industry in this field.
