Event Description

JAG Shaw, venture capital and private equity lawyers, in conjunction with Astia, are proud to announce a breakfast seminar to discuss Scottish venture and investment in the life sciences and high tech sectors and the role of Astia to ensure the success of women entrepreneurs within these sectors.

Astia is a global community dedicated to the success of women-led, high-growth ventures.  Founded in Silicon Valley in 1998, Astia works with start-ups and growth-stage companies around the world as they access capital, grow their businesses, and develop the leadership of the women on the executive team. Since 2003, Astia companies have raised more than $1 billion, achieved 23 exits, and maintained a greater than 60% funding success rate within one year of joining Astia.

JAG Shaw is an innovative legal boutique with expertise in venture capital and private equity law and a particular focus on life sciences and tech investment.

A speaker will also attend from the Scottish Investment Bank (SIB).  SIB is a division of Scottish Enterprise which operates Scotland-wide, in partnership with Highlands and Islands Enterprise. It operates a suite of funds including; The Scottish Seed, the Scottish Co-investment, the Scottish Venture and the Scottish Loan Fund to support Scotland’s SME funding market to ensure that both early stage and established businesses with growth potential have adequate access to growth capital.

Come and learn more about Astia, Scottish Enterprise and the current opportunities in Scottish venture capital.  Investors, entrepreneurs and advisers warmly welcome.

Breakfast seminar 8.30am – 10.00am on Thursday 9 February at the Signet Library Edinburgh
